Highball is back! And we’ve missed you like crazy.

The Covid19 pandemic is still with us and will be for the foreseeable future so, we’ve had to make a few changes to the way we operate to ensure we are operating as safely, hygienically and also as cost-effectively as possible. Since February, we have lived by the mantra ‘protecting our people, our community and our business’.

 

‘The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and government guidelines mean we’re having to operate differently from how things were before lockdown. In addition, we’re also navigating through very challenging economic and financially. Rest assured, the crew and I are doing everything we can to pragmatically manage the risks, maximise enjoyment and mitigate and absorb the financial impacts. We will come back stronger. ONLINE BOOKING & TIME LIMITED CLIMBING SESSIONS

To help us manage capacity in the building, everyone must now book their visit online. These sessions are called ‘Open Climbing Sessions’ and are for competent climbers wanting to climb independently and any guests they want to bring/supervise.

Whilst this is probably the biggest change for everyone, it does bring climbing in line with almost every other sporting activity; you pre-book your session to ensure you get a place. You can arrive when you want during your booked time but you must leave before the end of the session. Please be aware we are now regularly ‘maxing out’ capacity so we strongly encourage you to book in advance.

 

MEMBERSHIPS

All memberships were automatically frozen when we closed and we backdated them a couple of days to 16 March. Now we’re open, we have not automatically thawed them as not everyone is ready to come back yet. We have regularly emailed members directly over the last two months, providing options of how/when to thaw your membership so please check your email inbox, including your spam folder. If you are not receiving emails from us, you may need to update your email address at reception or, opt back in - as you may have opted out of marketing emails (which we rarely send) but we are now sending lots more relevant operating info you need to know.

Important Info for Pay Monthly Members: If you have not thawed your membership by 30 November, we will terminate your membership and put the £credit on your account. 

 

KEEPING IT CLEAN DURING COVID 19

Just like before lockdown, our centre receives a daily professional clean from local business, Spring Clean. They have been our cleaning contractors for many years and as soon as we re-opened, we were pleased to be able to reactivate our contract with them. In addition, you will also see the team performing regular cleans throughout the centre across the day and evening.

 

WASHING YOUR HANDS

One of the easiest and simplest decisions we had to make before we re-opened was to build a new hand wash station. ‘Wash your hands’ was one of the first measures the government introduced and it will likely be the last thing to go - if it ever goes… Let's face it, we should all be washing hands before and after climbing anyway.

We have built 6 sinks which are located outside the front of the building and are available on both entry and exit.

 

LIQUID CHALK

Whilst we’re talking about ‘clean’, we are currently only allowing the use of liquid chalk. Whilst its impact on Coronavirus is up for debate, our primary reason for there is no doubt it is having a huge impact on the cleanliness of the centre

+ Check yourself in using your keyfob barcode or download the RGPro Connect App

 

If you are a competent/experienced and have never been to Highball before, you will need to complete our online registration form and download the RGPro App before you arrive.

+ Use Liquid Chalk Only

GIFT VOUCHERS

Gift voucher expiry dates have all been extended by 6 months to make up for the 5 months we were closed.

 

RAFFLE VOUCHERS

At present, raffle vouchers are suspended while we get our coaching program relaunched. We will endeavour to honour as many raffle vouchers as we can and offer alternatives if possible but unfortunately, some products may not come back.
